Aircraft maintenance

Follow us

Aircraft maintenance is one of the Air France-KLM Group’s three core businesses, generating €5.1 billion in revenue, including €2.1 billion from external customers.

Air France Industries-KLM Engineering & Maintenance (AFI-KLM E&M) provides maintenance, repair, and overhaul services (MRO) and is the second largest multi-product provider in the world. In a constantly evolving MRO market, its strength lies in offering products and services that are perfectly adapted to the maintenance needs of new-generation fleets, as well as solutions that have been specifically designed to address the end-of-life problems of certain aircraft.

The Group operates in three major maintenance segments: airframe maintenance, engine maintenance, and component support (electronic, mechanical, pneumatic, hydraulic, aerostructure, etc.).

Description
  • Recycling and circular waste management: Through the Reverse project, AFI KLM E&M applies the principles of the circular economy to give a second life to used equipment by promoting reuse, resale, refurbishment, or recycling.

  • Electrification of vehicles: AFI KLM E&M is gradually replacing its combustion vehicles with fully electric models to reduce CO₂ emissions.

  • Installation of solar panels: More than 7,600 solar panels have been installed on the roofs of the Amsterdam and Norwich hangars, significantly reducing their dependence on external energy.

  • Reduction of water consumption: Cleaning a Boeing 777 now requires only 150 liters of water, compared with 12,000 previously, thanks to optimized techniques and recycling of the water used.

  • Responsible sourcing: AFI KLM E&M’s partners are assessed by the ECOVADIS label, the world’s most reliable business sustainability rating.
