Solidarity in Action: The Concrete Impact of Air France–KLM
With their global presence, Air France, KLM and Transavia are naturally attentive to the social and humanitarian challenges faced by the regions they serve.
Each year, either directly or through the Air France Foundation or the Wings of Support association, the airlines of the Air France–KLM Group support local organizations recognized for their work with vulnerable populations. These partnerships translate the Group’s core values into concrete action, mobilizing teams around projects with positive and lasting impact.
A long-term commitment
Within the Air France–KLM Group, solidarity is expressed through several concrete initiatives carried out at both Group and airline levels. For more than thirty years, the Air France Foundation has been working to support children and young people in difficulty in France and around the world. Since its creation in 1992, it has supported more than 1,750 projects in over 80 countries and brings together a network of nearly 5,000 committed volunteer employees, both active and retired. Each year, the Foundation finances more than 40 projects, helping to provide sustainable prospects for thousands of young people.
This collective dynamic is also reflected at KLM, where the Wings of Support association created and run by volunteer employees has been supporting disadvantaged children for more than 25 years, backing nearly 65 projects each year in around twenty countries.
Strength through unity
The commitment of the Air France–KLM Group’s airlines is also reflected in joint initiatives. Air France and Transavia, for example, jointly support the Empire des Enfants association, an organization recognized for its work with children living on the street in Senegal.
The Air France Foundation has been supporting this association for more than ten years, combining financial support with the involvement of volunteer employees. Among the initiatives implemented, the Foundation has financed care for children, contributed to the construction of a new center, and supported the launch of an innovative “Eco-School” project.
Since 2024, Transavia has joined this commitment by engaging its teams through solidarity initiatives and targeted contributions. Transavia supports the association through onboard solidarity sales, internal collections of equipment and financial donations, and by offering its employees the opportunity to become directly involved in the association’s projects.
Another example comes from Budapest, where the Air France Foundation, Wings of Support and the local Air France–KLM team support the Open the Cloud-Door Foundation, a day center welcoming children with severe mental disabilities. This partnership takes shape through volunteer days involving Group employees, the provision of adapted educational and sports equipment, and the financing by the Air France Foundation of rehabilitation work on a second building, which will make it possible to welcome more children. It illustrates the long-term, coordinated commitment of local teams.
This spirit of cooperation is also reflected in initiatives that span the entire Group, such as the annual collection of material donations. On this occasion, Air France–KLM Cargo teams work alongside the Air France Foundation to ensure the transport of equipment and donations to local partners. Upstream, many volunteer employees are also involved in sorting, packing and preparing the donations collected from their colleagues, concretely illustrating the chain of solidarity and the spirit of mutual support that drive the Group. Nearly 10 tons of equipment are collected from employees and transported each year.
A collective mobilization
The Group’s commitment is all the stronger because it is also supported by its customers. In 2025, through the Flying Blue loyalty program, more than 1.2 billion miles were donated by customers in support of associations partnered with Air France, KLM and Transavia. These miles help finance essential travel or address needs identified in the field, thereby strengthening the overall impact of the actions carried out.
