Four new directors on the Air France-KLM Governing Board


On 2 November 2017, at the proposal of its nomination and corporate governance committee, the Air France-KLM board of directors decided to co-opt Mrs. Anne-Marie Idrac as new independent director. 

This decision was made following the effective date of appointment on 3 October 2017 of director Mr. Bing Tang, and Delta Air Lines Inc. whose permanent representative is Mr. George Mattson. 

Following these appointments, the European Works Council, at its meeting on 10 October 2017, decided to appoint Mr. Mathi Bouts as director representing the employees.

Biographies

Mr. Mathi Bouts has been a purser on KLM long-haul flights since 2017. He previously occupied the positions of Chairman of KLM’s Works Council and Vice-Chairman of Air France-KLM’s European Works Council until 2010. Since 2011, he has also been Chairman of the Dutch foundation MNO, a network of Dutch multinational works councils.

Anne-Marie Idrac is independent director. She was director of land transportation at the Ministry of Equipment and Transport and subsequently Secretary of State for Transport. She occupied the positions of Chair and CEO of the RATP (Paris Public Transport Authority) from 2002 to 2006, and Chair and CEO of the SNCF (French State Railways) from 2006 to 2008. She was a Member of Parliament from 1997 to 2002, and Secretary of State for Foreign Trade from 2008 to 2010. 

George Mattson has been a member of Delta’s Board of Directors since 2012. A former partner at Goldman Sachs & Co bank where he had an 18-year career, he has a solid experience in M&A, corporate finance and the capitals market.  During this period, he also acquired extensive knowledge of the airline sector, transport and industries. He now uses his expertise to invest in and develop medium-sized businesses.  

Mr. Bing Tang is Vice-President and member of the China Eastern Holding Company. An engineer by training, he has pursued his career in the civil aviation industry where he has occupied various managerial positions within China Southern, Shanghai Airlines where he was appointed Chairman in 2012, and China Eastern Airlines where he is a Director and Vice-President of China Eastern Airlines Corporation Limited.
