To mark its first participation in the 2017 Viva Technology event, in Paris - porte de Versailles from 15 to 17 June 2017, the Air France-KLM group is investing a 400 sq. m area dedicated to innovation and the travel experience of the future. Big data, virtual reality, artificial intelligence and improving the employee experience through digital innovation are the four themes that will be developed at the Group’s “Future of Travel” lab. The three-day event will include presentations of start-ups proposing innovative solutions, external contributions from entrepreneurs in the digital world and keynote addresses by Group innovation experts, as well as different immersive experiences offering visitors the chance to explore the future of travel. At the Viva Technology event, the Group will present its latest technological developments and share its open innovation vision and policy.
32 startups and 4 themes to create the future of travel
Over the two days reserved for professionals (15 and 16 June), the 32 projects and startups competing in the “Future of Travel” challenge will each have allocated time to present their solution in response to the questions posed by the Group on the subjects of big data, virtual and augmented reality for an immersive travel experience, artificial intelligence to improve travellers’ experience and interactive management to improve the employee experience. After presenting their projects, four startups will be selected to carry out a pilot project in collaboration with Air France experts. The 4 winners will be presented their awards on 17 June at 4pm at the Group’s Lab.
An opportunity for digital technology and innovation experts to exchange and share their vision
The Air France-KLM’s “Future of Travel” Lab will organize opportunities to meet and exchange with the Group’s representatives. There will also be keynote addresses by Air France-KLM innovation experts who will talk about the future of the air transport industry and tourism and its challenges, and contributions from leading entrepreneurs in the digital world who will contribute their external point of view and share their personal experience. This will notably be the case of Lucky Loc, Vente privée, Linkedin, Never Eat Alone, Auféminin.com or The Boson Project.
Promoting women’s role in innovation with #womenrock
Air France-KLM is taking part in the #womenrock programme aimed at promoting careers in digital technology and innovation for women. The Group has selected 6 talented women from very diverse backgrounds to join this programme. They will follow a training program lasting almost a year (from June 2017 to April 2018) with a key experience at Viva Technology. Women’s participation in innovation is a daily reality for the Air France-KLM Group with women occupying a predominant place within the dedicated digital and innovation teams. Out of the Group’s 8 expert participants at the Lab, six are women, specializing in digital technology and innovation.
An ultra-realistic immersive experience
In addition to the experts’ contributions and presentations of startups, visitors will be able to discover an immersive virtual reality experience specially developed for Viva Technology. Visitors will board a virtual and sensory-reality business class cabin and enjoy a true-to-life virtual trip lasting approximately 6 minutes. Another new feature for this experience – no queues thanks to the startup Lineberty which has developed a system giving visitors an estimated waiting time, so that they don’t have to stand in a queue.
A musical performance signed Air France Music
On Saturday 17 June, the last day open to the general public, different special events will be organized including a live performance by an artist on the Air France Music label at the Group’s Lab.
